Stamina
When a disaster strikes or a major event happens, you may end up being on your own for months on end. Now this may not be a major issue, but you need to realize as you are on your own longer, it means you will have to do more things on your own. Some of these things can involve scrounging for food, looking for wood for a fire, or even trying to maintain fresh water. All of these will require you to be in good shape and be able to maintain a good pace when you are doing your work. So you need to make sure you look at how you can build up your stamina and know for certain it is going to help you in coping with the disaster that happened that led to you going into survival mode.
Weight Training
While you may not have to lift up a two hundred pound person to get to where you need to, you need to make sure your muscles are strong enough to do jobs on your own. Yes, your family may survive a disaster and be with you, but even if they do survive you may have to do some work on your own. When you have to do the work on your own, you need to make sure your muscles can handle the work you have to do, but your muscles can also take the abuse that you are going to have to put them through. Knowing this information, you should make sure you concentrate on endurance training for your muscles as this will get them used to the constant use when you are trying to get a job done at your home on your own.
Mind Exercises
Yes, I said it, mind exercises. I know that I hate to have to workout my mind, but it is something you need to do if you want to have a safe time after a disaster. You need to make sure you are doing crossword puzzles to help keep your mind set in place, but the exercises are going to help you in making decisions that are required in a snap. I know that when you get in a flight or fight setting with your mind, it is generally going to need you to do some quick decisions. These can be something you need to keep your mind sharp with and hopefully it is going to make it easier for you to make the decisions than what you think.
