Top Five Dogs For Protection

Finding some type of animal for protection can be a difficult thing to do. However, when you are looking at a dog you need to know more about the types of dogs that will be best for protection for your property. The difficult part comes from narrowing down the dogs based off of their breed and this often means doing quite a bit of research. I know that for me, I have to look at all the different dog breeds and try to figure out which of the factors are the most important for me. Now you may think this is something that is fairly easy to do, but with mine I am going to find breed loyalty, protection, and even the size of the dog when I am looking at the dogs. With that in mind, I have narrowed down what I believe to be the top five dogs for protection of your home.

Mastiff

The Mastiffs are a breed that has a tremendous amount of history, but the breed has several different sub breeds. The main breed that I will be talking about here is the English Mastiff. This breed has managed to do quite a bit for the dogs and for the protection of the home. The Mastiffs have managed to get the breed loyalty and this means they will not leave your side if you need to be protected, but they are also large.

The average size of the Mastiff, depending on the specific breed of Mastiff you get will run anywhere from 120 pounds to over 250 pounds. Not only that the Mastiffs tend to get a larger block head that is strong and the head alone can hurt you, let alone the bite that comes from an adult Mastiff. So you can only imagine what the bite of these dogs is like.

Either way the Mastiffs are going to be on the list of our dog breeds that are among the top five for keeping your property safe. Please note, that you do need to train these dogs as they will want to see you as a leader or you could have problems in getting to keep your dog happy.

Great Danes

The Danes are a breed that almost anyone who has picked up a comic strip will recognize. The most famous of the Great Danes is Marmaduke, but even he will be a great protector of his owners. Yes, the comic strip does hold it true that if you are not careful the dog can drag you behind you, but this is because of their size and curiosity.

With the Great Dane, they are also mainly know as pure muscle. Yes, the Danes are a dog that you will enjoy walking down the sidewalk, but at the same time you need to realize their fat is minimal as long as you give them the right food. However, they are also a breed that will protect you and look great while they are doing it.

Size wise the Danes are doing a great job of protection because they are a decent size. The Danes are also very tall and the height of them alone is often enough to intimidate people. So you will enjoy seeing the Danes are a great animal for you to look at.

Pitbulls

Pits have a bad reputation because people view them as a violent dog and that they are going to attack their kids or lose their kids because of the dogs. However, I know that this breed is one that will protect their owner to the end and are very loyal and fun loving dogs. Just like the other two breeds that were mentioned you need to make sure you have your dogs bred properly, but also make sure that you have them trained.

A key point if you are looking at using the Pitbulls for protection of your survival area, is to consider the different types of problems you may have with your insurance. If this is the case, you will want to make sure you look at the different aspects of your insurance policy and make sure it will not drop you because of your purchasing of a pitbull.

The size of these dogs is on the medium side, but they can have a streak in them that if their owner is threatened that they will start to protect. These are a dog whose bite is a lot harder than their bite at times. So just keep this in mind and if you are having guest over and have raised the dog to be a protector, more than a friend you may want to put your dog in a crate for the safety of your guest.

Rottweiler

When you are looking at a classic dog that has a great reputation you will want to look no further than the Rottweiler. These dogs are well known for their drool and the look they have on their face all the time. I know these dogs are loyal to a point, but they are also going to have a very strong bite. These are a dog that you have to train for the job that you want them to do.

When you are training your dogs, you will want to make sure that you are providing them the proper training. For example, basic obedience training is a great thing, but you need to make sure that you have your dog trained for the job as well. When you can train the Rots for a specific job, they will know what they are supposed to do and do the job extremely well.

If you are training the Rots for the protection of your property, you will want to make sure they know the difference between a guest and an intruder. This way you can have the proper protection for your home and know the dogs are going to take care of your home when you are away, but also keep the house safe from any type of intruders.

German Shepherd

The Shepherd is a dog that law enforcement uses. They use the shepherds mainly because they are a loyal dog, but they are well disciplined and are very easy to train. The German Shepherd is also a dog that is great to have for your personal protection as well. You do have to train the shepherds, but the training is very easy to do.

When you consider this dog, you will find the size is average, but the bite is decent. You will need to make sure you look at the shepherd because of the loyalty, but you also need to realize a dog brush is another item you will need. These dogs can get bored very easily as well, which can lead to them starting to chew up items.

To avoid your dogs from chewing up the entire home while you are gone, make sure you provide them with plenty of toys. The toys need to be hard wearing because the little shepherd will easily take and tear up any of the fur toys that you will find with your little dogs.

Dogs are a great way to protect yourself from any type of harm. However, what you need to realize is with all the different dog breeds, it is nearly impossible to determine which of the dog breeds will work best at protecting you and your property. This is when you should know about the top five dog breeds for protection of your property. Once you know about these breeds, it will be easy for you to know if you are getting a good dog for protection or a dog breed that will lick the intruders face off, instead of scaring them off.
